A Girly Dinner

Thursday, June 27, 2013

On a freezing Wednesday evening, my girl friends and I caught up for a nice girls-only dinner in the lovely city of Melbourne. As with most gatherings it's always hard to get us all together to eat at one table but a good turn out none the less.

Linda, Nancy, Cathleen, Pha, Fiona and Elva with the Ajisen Ramen mascot.

Over the years our conversations have migrated from the innocence of first crushes, holding hands and life after primary school to midriff tops, the Backstreet Boys and "what we want to be when we grow up" to clubs, partying and our future careers and now to how our hair is thinning, wedding plans and baby names.

It's crazy to think I've known some of my girl friends for over 20 years of my life and some a lot less but we are still able to maintain the quality and bond of friendship regardless the space and time in between. I'm very blessed and thankful.

When we were young(er)...

When we were wild...

There's nothing like good food to complement good conversation and company and so I was introduced to ramen noodles for the first time. Recommendable, good value and entertaining service would be my assessment, our waitress helped facilitate the Asian stereotype of taking pictures of everything which was hilarious.

And what's dinner without a tasty dessert to cap the night off! We ended up at Passionflower for an exotic mix of ice cream with flavours like durian, pandan, taro and red bean along with crowd pleasers such as cookies and cream, vanilla bean and chocolate, there's something to suit every taste. Although fairly pricey, best shared with a friend, or five :)

'Now let's forget our troubles with a big bowl of strawberry ice cream', said Malibu Stacy (and Linda).
