Burj Khalifa, Dubai

Panoramic view from the top.
Last weekend we flew to Abu Dhabi to inspect a car, which turned out to be a dramatic tale in itself but that's another post for another day. Spoiler alert though we end up buying the car!

We took the opportunity to road trip from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, a two hour trip of which a literal 40 minutes was contributed to driving around, behind, past, over and under our hotel because we were always on the wrong exit. An absolute horrific traffic experience! But I digress, today's blog post is about finally visiting the Burj Khalifa - currently the tallest building in the world.

Ari and Linda at the top of Burj Khalifa, 124th floor.

Now, if you plan to visit the Burj you best get tickets online as an impromptu visit will cost four times the prepaid price (which unless you're absolutely desperate to go is a hefty AUD$110). We learnt this from the last time we tried to visit, not to mention they sell out the tickets anyway so really it pays to be prepared.

Crazy roads in Dubai - this is how we got lost for 40 minutes and in the distance you can see the World Islands which are man made islands in the shape of the world - apparently they're eroding away and sinking too!

Ari "safely" sticking his head over the 124th floor - I'm surprised it fit :) and my best seductive librarian slash blue steel look lol

Fun fact, the Burj Khalifa will be the tallest building in the world for now, until the completion of (engineering-ly amazing) Jeddah Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia due in 2018. They called it the Mile-High Tower orginally proposing it to be 1.6 km tall but have since revised it to be "at least" 1km in height.
